Henry O’Donnell

Henry holds a level 8 qualification in Agricultural Science and is a FAS approved advisor and commonage management planner. He is also an upland farmer with organic suckler and sheep enterprises. He was Project Manager for the Inishowen Uplands European Innovation Project prior to taking up this role. He has experience delivering all Department of Agriculture schemes to farmers and has a good working knowledge of all other Department of Agriculture schemes.

Andrew Ward

Andrew Ward Joint CEO of Inishowen Development Partnership. Andrew represented Irish Local Development Network (ILDN) on the Brexit Adjustment Reserve Fisheries Taskforce. He is a FLAG Northwest and Community Finance Ireland Board member, previously serving on the Board of BIM and the Loughs Agency. Andrew has overseen the LEADER programme in Inishowen since 1998.

ACRES Donegal

Ronan O’Doherty

Ronan has been appointed ACRES Donegal administrator to assist the team. He has previous experience in administration of the Inishowen Farmers Uplands European Innovation Partnership Project.
Ronan has management experience in project development and administration in the public, private and community development sectors and has served on a number of industry boards.

Trish Murphy

As our water specialist, Trish will oversee the actions and measures taken by farmers to protect and improve water quality on Donegal farms that fall within the Co-operation area. She is a founding member of the Inishowen Rivers Trust and has a PhD in zoology. Through the Trust she has worked with farmers and landowners to create riparian buffers, implement natural flood management solutions and engage community in learning more about water quality.

Anita Donaghy

Anita joins the team as a specialist in birds and habitat management. She has been with BirdWatch Ireland for over ten years, previously completing her PhD on the management of habitats for Corncrakes in the Shannon Callows. Within the ACRES team she will oversee the measures taken to protect some of our most threatened species such as Corncrakes, breeding waders and seabirds.

Anthony Robb

Programme Ecologist & Deputy Manager

Anthony joins the team as our ecological specialist. Anthony, who has a farming background, has worked as an ecological consultant for nine years across Ireland and the UK leading ecological assessments on projects involving survey, mitigation and enhancement of protected species and habitats. Anthony will be overseeing actions and measures aimed at conserving protected species and habitats on farmland within the Co-Operation area.

Aoife Moroney

Programme Specialist

Aoife has an M.Sc. in Environmental Engineering, specialising in environmental management, and a PGcert in Ecological Survey Techniques, with her final project focusing on corncrake. She has previously worked as a consultant Ecologist / Ornithologist for three years, working on a variety of large and small-scale developments, and has a particular passion for birds. Aoife joins us as a Bird Specialist Project Officer.

Fiona Doherty

Project Officer

Fiona has a B.Sc in Veterinary Nursing and a post grad diploma in Wildlife Conservation & Management. She has previously worked on the NPWS Corncrake Grant Scheme in East Donegal and has been involved in several ornithological surveys. Fionas is a Project Officer and will be scoring commonage areas across Donegal and liaising with farmers on the ground.

Roisin has a BSc Hons in Animal & Crop Science, a BSc Hons in Environmental Management, a BA Hons in Business Management and is completing a MSc in Environmental Management with GIS. Previously she was employed as an Agri-Ecologist and Scientific Research Officer. Roisin is an upland and lowland farmer with a particular interest in sustainable agriculture. She joins us as a Project Officer.

Paul Monagle

Project Officer

Paul has a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture from ATU Donegal specializing in Animal and Crop Science. He also farms a lowland flock of sheep and pedigree cattle herd.  Paul has just finished a 6 year term in GLAS and has been successfully accepted into ACRES on his home Farm.  Paul has been working in ACRES since 2023.

Aoife McGlynn

Project Officer

Aoife holds a BSc in Geography and a Masters in Primary Education, alongside a Level 6 Specific Purpose in Farming. Aoife is an upland farmer with a keen interest in sustainable agriculture. Aoife combines her academic background and farming experience to contribute effectively to nature. Aoife joins us as a project officer.

Nick Maskery

Project Officer / Advisor Liaison

Nick has an MSc in ‘Sustainable Agriculture and Farm Business Management’ and is a FAS approved advisor. Nick started his career working on REPS and since then has delivered countryside management schemes both in Ireland and the UK. Nick has a particular interest in conservation grazing and keeps Irish moiled cattle on the family farm. Nick joins us as a Project Officer and Advisor Liaison.

Joseph Quinn

Project Officer

Joseph has a bachelor’s Degree in Sustainable Agriculture from Dundalk Institute of Technology. Joseph has experience working in several agricultural industries including beef processing, wool processing, agricultural fencing and most recently, agricultural advisory focussed on ACRES. Joseph runs an organic hill sheep flock and has a keen interest in peatland restoration and flood mitigation on his own farm and as part of the Donegal ACRES team. Joseph joins us as a project officer.

Catríona O’Hagan

Seasonal Field Surveyor

Catríona has just finished her second year studying for a BSc (Hons) in Agricultural Science at ATU Donegal. She has just completed two work placements as part of her degree, one with ACRES and one on a mixed farm in France. Catríona comes from a farming background, with a flock of upland and lowland sheep, and a herd of suckler to beef cattle. She has a keen interest in all aspects of agriculture. Catríona returns to ACRES as a seasonal field surveyor for her second scoring season.

Ethan Doherty

Ethan has just finished his third year studying for a BSc (Hons) in Agriculture science at ATU Donegal.  Ethan comes from a farming background with lowland and upland sheep flocks along with a  small suckler herd. He has a big interest  in all aspects of agriculture. Ethan joins Acres as a seasonal field surveyor.  

Louise Molloy

Seasonal Field Surveyor

Louise has just finished her Bachelor's Degree in Sustainable Agriculture from DKIT. Louise has experience working on beef and dairy farms, as well as working in a lab setting with DAFM. She comes from an equine background and has a great interest in sustainable farming practices and habitat restoration. Louise joins us as a seasonal field surveyor.

Aileen Collery

Aileen has an agricultural and scientific background, having started her career in micro and molecular biological testing for pathogens in water and animal products working in specialised laboratory environments. She has worked as a Research Specialist aiming to understand diversification of agricultural practices in Ireland. Aileen holds an MSc in Agricultural Science and an MSc in AgInnovation. 

Roisín Mc Nulty

Seasonal Field Surveyor

Roisín has just finished her final year of BSc (Hons) in Agriculture and Environmental Management in ATU Galway, her final year dissertation was looking at control and effects of Rhododendron ponticum. Roisín comes from an upland and lowland sheep farming background. She has completed work experience and a summer role with Teagasc on their research farm in Athenry. Roisín joins ACRES as a seasonal field surveyor.

Michael Byrne

Seasonal Field Surveyor

Michael has just completed his final year studying for a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Science with Ecology at ATU Sligo. He has previously worked as an assistant ecologist where he gained experience conducting breeding bird, vantage point and multidisciplinary ecological surveys for projects such as the Water Supply project Eastern and Midlands Region. Michael also has a keen interested in birds and volunteers with Birdwatch Irelands countryside bird survey. He is also interested in habitat and species conservation"

Fiona Stapleton

Seasonal Field Surveyor

Fiona has over a decade of experience across environmental consultancy, GIS, and education. She holds an M.Res. in Earth and Ocean Sciences specialising in geospatial analysis, a PME in Education, and a First-Class Honours B.Sc. Her background includes consultancy with RPS, fieldwork in the Australian mining sector, and leading GIS and conservation projects through her business, Peasy Maps. She brings a strong interest in combining scientific rigour with local knowledge to support the ACRES team.

Adam Friel

Project Officer

Adam has a Bachelors degree in Agricultural Science with a Master’s in Ecological Management and Conservation Biology. Adam has previously worked in an assistant ecologist role with Tetra Tech, and in invasive species control. Adam has just returned from working on a 650 cow dairy farm in North Island, New Zealand. Adam joins us as a project officer.

Oonagh Nelson

Oonagh is a financial administrator with the Inishowen Development Partnership working on the RDP and TUS schemes. At ACRES Donegal she will be responsible for the management of financial accounts for the project.
